Rooney to undergo a hair transplant!

Friends of Wayne Rooney have backed his decision to undergo a hair transplant.

The footie ace, who is only 25, has been having sessions at an exclusive London clinic.

The treatment comes after his Man Utd team-mate Michael Owen took the mickey on Twitter about him being a baldy.

Hi-tech, eight-hour treatments cost VIP clients at the clinic, near Harley Street, thousands of pounds.

A source close to the star told the Sunday Mirror: “Wayne booked in for a two-day treatment. He’ll look at least five years younger.”

Ancelotti: Man Utd striker Rooney BETTER than Messi

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti rates Wayne Rooney ahead of Lionel Messi.

Ancelotti yesterday said he would rather have the United striker in his team than Messi.

Ancelotti also believes United can cause an upset and beat Barcelona in the Champions League final.

"Barcelona are favourites but United are faster, more intelligent and have the skill to win," said the Chelsea boss.

"Everyone goes for Messi but I would take Rooney. Messi is out of this world and maybe he is reaching the level of Maradona. Rooney, however, is closer to the reality of football. He puts his talent out to the rest of the team and this explains the difference between players and outstanding players."

But Ancelotti claimed he would not man-mark the United star, saying: "It means changing our philosophy too much.

"We want to play our football, not just control their skills and ability. Rooney is the key player for United, and the last time against us Ryan Giggs was the best player. He passed three balls and they scored three goals."

Rooney loving free role at Man Utd

Wayne Rooney admits he's enjoying his free role.

Rooney was outstanding in victory at Schalke this week.

Rooney roams free picking the ball up, linking play, and getting forward himself to score goals. He said: "I think I am playing well at the minute in a new role which I played a lot when I was younger and I'm enjoying it.

"Chicharito is playing fantastic, and with Giggsy in central midfield, it seems to be working.

"I understand the way Chicharito plays and knew if I was playing up front with him I would have to change and play a bit deeper and it is working. He is scoring a lot of important goals.

"And I am enjoying getting on the ball and linking play and getting a few goals as well. You can influence games a lot more from there as well.

"Sometimes when you play up front on your own you're not in the game as much, you're waiting for your opportunity to score.

"When you play in the position I'm in you're always involved as you can get on the ball and create and score."

Evra feels SAF has found Rooney's best position

Patrice Evra feels boss Sir Alex has found Wayne Rooney's best position after victory at Schalke.

Operating in his newly adopted position behind strike partner Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, Rooney excelled against the Germans, playing with a sense of freedom that allowed the England star to dictate the game from various areas of the Veltins-Arena pitch.

It's a position he has made his own, according to Reds team-mate Evra: “I think Wayne has found his position. When he’s a little bit behind the striker, he gets more touches of the ball.

“I also think Wayne can play as a number 10. He likes to give good balls, and he scores. From behind, maybe he’s more dangerous. I think Wazza is happy to play there as well.”

Rooney: I'm so sorry I said we weren't good enough

Wayne Rooney has confessed he could not have been more wrong to question the quality of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad with Manchester United now on course for a European and domestic Double.

The Barclays Premier League leaders have one foot in the Champions League final at Wembley after a resounding 2-0 win over Schalke in Germany.

'Obviously I made a mistake. I admitted that and apologised, and I've wanted to prove myself again to the United fans. I feel I'm doing that now. I'm 100 per cent committed to this club.

'It's been a lot different in the second half of the season. I'm a lot happier in my life and happier with the way I'm playing. It's been like settling down again.

'I'm very grateful to the fans for supporting me through it and I'm delighted with my form. Now it would be a great end to the season with a Champions League final and to win the Premier League.'

Redknapp sees Rooney long-term future bossing Man Utd midfield

Wayne Rooney is being tipped for a long-term future in midfield.

In his column for the Daily Mail, Jamie Redknapp wrote: "I enjoyed seeing Rooney moving into central midfield for the last 30 minutes of United's win over Everton.

"I played in that position and I wouldn't have wanted to match up with him.

"Paul Scholes started as a striker and look where he ended up. It might be an option for Wayne too one day, especially with that range of long and short passing."

Wayne Rooney joined the social networking revolution on Saturday to give Sir Alex Ferguson another headache.

Rooney communicated via Twitter for the first time to offer team-mate Rio Ferdinand a lift, adopting the moniker Wazzaroon08 in tribute to Manchester United's Champions League triumph against Chelsea in Moscow in 2008.

News of Rooney's late entry into the online community spread like wildfire and his following was approaching 100,000 in a matter of hours, meaning any ill-judged comments will also be quickly pounced on.

His record of on-pitch misbehaviour means United manager Ferguson is bound to be worried about him publishing comments that land him in trouble.

Ferguson could rest easy last night though as Rooney, not officially verified but endorsed by Ferdinand, kept his tweets clean - and the only mistakes came in his spelling.

But fellow United star Dimitar Berbatov might be interested in the apparent favouring of Javier Hernandez as Rooney's strike partner.

After the Mexican scored the winner against Everton, Rooney tweeted: 'Love playing with Hernandez. Buy of century.'

Rooney: Sod Coca-Cola, we will go with Pepsi!

Wayne Rooney has been hit in the hip pocket after losing his deal with Coca Cola.

The Mirror says yesterday the drinks giant confirmed the £600,000-a-year deal is over. It was claimed they made the ­decision earlier this year.

A spokesman said: “We mutually agreed that we would not renew our relationship. We wish Wayne well in his career.”

A source close to Rooney last night shrugged off the loss of the Coca-Cola deal – and even hinted that he might now switch to rival company Pepsi.

The source said: “There are quite a lot of offers which are coming in, and some of those are other drinks companies.”

Rooney’s other big sponsors Nike (£1m a year) and EA Sports (£250,000) were both standing by him last night.

Ferguson delighted with Man Utd strikers goals record

Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with the output of his forward line.

Ferguson feels his striker's form has covered the injury problems his squad has suffered this season.

“What has kept us going despite the injuries we have had in defensive positions is that there has been a good goal threat from us. We have forwards who can win matches,” said Sir Alex.

“I am happy with our forward play. Chicharito’s development is a great bonus. Wayne Rooney’s form is coming back. They have been marvellous the two of them together.

“I said at the start of the season if we get two players who can score over 20 goals we are in with a great chance of winning something. Wayne is now on 12. Chicharito is on 17 and Berbatov is on 21. That is a good return and we have quite a few games left.

“I think my prediction is going to be accurate.”

Manchester United are believed to be ready to sell Wayne Rooney in the summer.

The striker had handed in a transfer request earlier in the season, only to be awarded a lucrative new contract to continue at Old Trafford.

But it is rumoured that the former Everton man has had a rift with manager Sir Alex Ferguson, after questioning the quality of the United squad following the defeat by Liverpool.

That is thought to have caused a strained relationship which is believed to be hurting the dressing-room dynamics. And now The News of the World claims that Ferguson is willing to sell the hitman in the summer.

Rooney has scored seven goals in 20 appearances in the Premier League so far this season. He is currently 24th in the Castrol Rankings, downm from 12th the previous month.

Coleen Rooney left 'sickened' at blackmail plot over pictures of son Kai

Coleen Rooney has been left shaken by a blackmail attempt over personal photos.

The 24-year-old was said to be 'sickened' at the plot to extort money after thieves got hold of a camera containing a memory card with more than 100 images of 15-month-old Kai.

The perpetrators were threatening to sell them unless the couple stumped up a five-figure sum.

A source told Closer: 'She has been left shaken to the core over the latest incident... She was really upset.

'She was sickened that strangers had taken the camera and were trying to use such personal and private pictures to make some money.'

It's said that the star has stepped up security as a result and last week, it emerged three people were arrested over the attempted scam.

Police were tipped off and the trio - two men and a woman - were arrested in September in a sting operation.

Coleen was with Wayne, 25, at The Black Eyed Peas gig at Manchester's MEN Arena in May last year when she accidentally left the camera in a £2,500-a-night private box.

It is believed an extortion gang grabbed Coleen’s camera after she put it down on a table in the hospitality suite during the concert.

When she got back to their luxury £4.5m home in Prestbury, Cheshire, Coleen realised she had left the camera behind and frantically called bosses at the venue to ask of they could retrieve it.

A mystery middle man later contacted the couple to warn the private photos would be published on the Internet unless they handed over the money - which was in excess of £10,000.

But police were called in and officers staged an elaborate undercover sting operation in which a series of telephone exchanges were secretly taped.

They later arrested two men, aged 28 and 41, and a woman aged 25 in a dramatic swoop.

It is the latest in a series of personal setbacks for the WAG.

Former ref Graham Poll believes Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be let off over his elbowing incident against Wigan Athletic's James McCarthy.

In his column for the Daily Mail: "If the Football Association charge Wayne Rooney, they will be going against previous recent cases and will possibly justify Sir Alex Ferguson’s claim that Manchester United are harshly treated because of their profile.

"Once Mark Clattenburg gave Wigan a free-kick — surely after some advice from his assistant referee, hence the delay in blowing his whistle —there was no possibility he could say that none of the officials saw the challenge, and that is what’s required for video evidence to be used.

"Rooney did not trip, pull or push James McCarthy, yet a free-kick was awarded — so it must have been awarded for use of the arm. As Rooney was not even cautioned, this incident will not be mentioned by Clattenburg in his report."

Rooney: Asking for transfer was wrong

But he said: “This is usually the time of year when we really go for it. We’ve got the experience to ­really kick on and put pressure on the other teams.

“It’s a big decision for the manager to even consider,” Macari told theMirror. “If he leaves Wayne out, it is then on the back pages for the next two weeks, so I don’t think he is going to go down that road.

“But putting the ball in the back of the net certainly is not happening for Wayne. It’s foolish for us to be talking about his scoring coming back, because it isn’t.

“With Hernandez, when he comes off the bench he seems a different player. He seems full of confidence, he’s got the pace for the ball over the top, he’s always on the end of things, and even if he doesn’t score he comes close.

Ferguson admits struggling to find best role for Rooney

Sir Alex Ferguson admits he's struggling to get the best from Wayne Rooney.

Ferguson admits to being impressed with Javier Hernandez's ongoing progress and faces something of a selection poser now that he is outshining Rooney.

Following the midweek encounter at Bloomfield Road, Ferguson said: "We tried to use Wayne as a wide player and although he has played that role well many times, he was just not getting into the game in the first half.

"It was no fault of his. The rhythm of our game wasn't right. We were all over the place.

"We then tried to put him through the middle but, when we were still 2-0 down 20 minutes into the second half, we had to do something and had to gamble.

"Chicharito [Hernandez] was a gamble. But of course immediately he went right through and forced a terrific save from their goalkeeper.

"Then he got the equaliser for us and in fact could have scored four goals. So he made a great impact."

Sir Alex blaming Tevez on Rooney penalty miss!

Sir Alex Ferguson is blaming Carlos Tevez for Wayne Rooney's amazing spotkick miss against Arsenal.

The Red Devils chief labelled Sunderland's three-goal triumph over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last month as "a perfect performance", emphasising his own players will have to be on their guard at Old Trafford.

Certainly they can ill-afford another penalty miss by Rooney, whose failure against Arsenal a fortnight ago attracted attention for the striker's bizarre zig-zag run-up.

"Carlos Tevez used to do it," recalled Ferguson.

"Wayne didn't do it in training but he did it at Ibrox and it worked. In fact he tried to hit exactly the same spot.

“Lately for some reason, before the last few games, I have been listening to Susan Boyle. Her album’s really good and it relaxes me.

“When we’re in the hotel before we go for our pre-match meal, I always put Stereophonics on. Then in the dressing room, I tend to listen to more relaxing music like Susan Boyle but it changes.

“A lot of the foreign lads listen to rap music which is okay but before a game I don’t really enjoy listening to that.”
