Man Utd wonderkid signs new deal but will be loan out

Midfielder Tom Cleverley is set to sign a new three-year Manchester United contract today, but is likely to join Newcastle United on loan for the season.

The 20 year-old has yet to make his Manchester United debut, but enjoyed an excellent season on loan at Watford last term, where he scored eleven goals.  Cleverley missed the end of the season with knee ligament damage but still won Watford's player of the year award.

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is keen to give Cleverley his Premier League chance, having been told that he has limited funds available with which to bring new signings to St James' Park.  The Manchester Evening Newsdescribes the Magpies as favourites to land the England under-21 international.

Cleverley is unlikely to feature in Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United squad on a regular basis next season and so Hughton is keen for the England under-21 international to be given an entire season to impress for Newcastle United .

However, by granting him a three-year deal at Old Trafford, Ferguson has shown his faith in Cleverley's future potential.
