Ferdinand ignores SAF Twitter ban. A very brave act indeed!

Rio Ferdinand must have witnessed SAF's infamous hairdryer treatment at close quarters during his many years at Old Trafford.

Which makes the Manchester United defender an incredibly brave man for sticking with his Twitter account.

My fellow Scot banned all United players from having social networking sites - Twitter and Facebook included.

But Rio has risked Fergie's wrath by Twittering about Man U matters - and I'm not talking Gary Neville's wispy beard. He's reassured fans that injury plagued Owen Hargreaves is not on the verge of retiring.

His updates at rioferdy5 are actually quite good. The England skipper loves a debate, too, asking fellow Tweeters to name the world's greatest ever player.
