Edwin van der Sar has refused to comment on deal for David De Gea.
United have chosen the 20 year-old goalkeeper to succeed the retiring 40 year-old Van der Sar.
The Independent says De Gea is the big gamble.
Van der Sar declined to pass comment on his successor on Saturday evening, though Sir Alex believes he is right to put his faith in the 20-year-old.
