Please shut your mouth. You do not know and feel what we are going thru (PBEC victim). As a member of this community, and have contibuted monetary support, I too, would like to have the problem in PBEC be heard.
There is only one thing I suggest, please do not have this guy "prolegalimmi" speak in front of the congressman.
With all due respect to your point of view without being rude, I am a BEC victim from April 2001. I have been waiting to get my Labor Certification from April of 2001. Till date, I know it may be in one of the BECs if it wasn't lost in transit. I was not able to obtain a screen shot nor do I have a 45 day letter. Still I say, when setting priorities, set it on what can be accomplished in the next two weeks, I agree with you in using the IVs opportunity to speak to bring all issues. But definitely not agree with your tone of voice. IV has clearly stated in its media relations page that members that have no respect to opinions and have no decency in their language can be taken out or censored.

08/20/2008: Immigration Reauthorization Bills and Senate Needs a Political Push
* There are four reauthorization legislative bills in the Congress. (1) Conrad 30 NIW bill , (2) Regional Center Pilot Investment bill (EB-5), (3) Nonministerial Religious Worker R-1 and Special Immigration bill, and (4) E-Verify Electronic Employment Authorization bill. The E-Verify reauthorization bill is very controversial adn currently facing a stong political opposition from political forces. The House passed the first three bills and forwarded to the Senate quite some time back, but as we reported on 08/02/2008, the Senate floor referred the bills to the Senate Judiciary at the last minute before the Senate left the Hill on August 2, 2008. These bills are currently presented to the Senate in two different formats: One is the format of the Senate's consent to each of these House bills separately. The other is Senator Specter's consolidated bill that put together all of these four bills into one bill. Obviously, Senator Specter's strategy must have been to tie the reauthorization bills to the controversial E-Verify Reauthorization bill. We reported that he apparently changed his mind and was pressuring the Senate Majority Leader to introduce E-Verify bill in the Senate first. Accordingly, it is unclear which strategies will work better to get these reauthorization bills passed in the Senate before they return to the election recess in early October.
* The Senate is scheduled to return to the session on September 5, 2008, Friday, and to pick up the defense appropriation billl debates. The House is not scheduled to return to the session until September 8, 2008, Monday. Procedurally, unless each of the reauthorization bills is consented by the Senate floor without amendment, they will have to go to the conference committee or the House just consent to the Senate's amendment. The problem is the House bills were referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee just before the recess and unless a sufficient political pressure is added to the Judiciary Committee Chairman Lehey, they are destined to go nowhere when it comes to the time frame. On the other hand, Senator's consolidated bill faces its own problem because of the E-Verify reauthorization proposal. Besides, even if the Senate floor quickly takes up this consolidated bill, since it is a Senate bill, it will have to be presented to the House for their consent for the Senate versions. The question is how and when all of these actions will be taken up by the leaders of the Senate. The answer appears to be obvious. The relevant immigrant communities must recharge themselves and act quickly to add pressure on the Senate leaders to take up the bills quickly as soon as they return to the session. The article should talk about the EB greencard problems and how it affect the lives of people who come to this country on H1B visas. Indian media it seems is confused on H1b visas and greencard process. They have on various occasions reported incorrect news on immigration legislation. Getting an H1B visa seems to be the be all and end all solution to come as a permananent resident of this country. While H1B visa is a non-immigrant visa, Greencard is the immigrant visa.
We want this article to solely focus on Greencards. The title can be like --"In Search of the Green Card". The article can be such that general public in India is educated and made aware of the struggles to achieve the coveted GC.
Make sure to write it as if you are a representative (member) of Immigration Voice and mention ImmigrationVoice name a few times in the article. Write aboout what immigration voice is doing to solve this problem and how this grassroots movement has grown nationwide and will enable a change in the broken immigrationsystem for high-skilled immigrants.

Seems as though every time there is a funding drive there are always people who come with questions that have been answered so many times before. It almost seems that these inflammatory posts are deliberate. All the answers to such questions are already on the forums and it takes less time to search than to post.

I just called all of them, including the not favoring congressman/women (cm/cw)
to those not favoring, I told I understand the cm/cw does not support the bill HR5882, but I would like to share few points that might help him/her reconsider their decision.
I then told about us not taking away any jobs since we already been employed for several years, and the bill if not approved we'll still continue to be employed in our current status. But on the positive side, if the bill is approved we'll greatly benefit the economy esp. the housing industry since several hundreds of applicants are ready to buy their house. and about us having paid taxes, and being a great consumer, etc.
and then I told I would really like the cm/cw to reconsider her/his decision and to support the bill which is up for markup today.

Here is what i think ........USCIS works and approves according to RD till 140/485 approval. After this they hand over the case to DOS for visa issuance who work according to PD when allocating visa numbers. Correct me if i am wrong.

This is the third time an Indian American has won the competition in a row.
BTW, the huge number of Indian American partcipants is not due to the fact that " Indian Americans" are brilliant... These children (at least most) are partcipating not becasue they have talent but they are being forced to by the aspirations of their parents.
All the Indian American children are crying, sitting on the lap of their parents etc... See any other kid who lost, they were cool.
How do you support your statement? and how many Bee contestants have you met/talked to?
in studies you can not force someone, you can only help them stay focused, having lived in NJ for 6-7 years i have met dozens of india american teenagers, very rarely have i heard them going to so caled "teenage clubs" where they do all the kinds of nasty stuff. teaching kids how to stay away from things that would hurt them in the long run, and spending enough time with them is what most immigrant(not just indians) parents do.
15 years from now when you see more than 50% neurosurgens are of indian origin, please stand at times square with a banner "these neurosurgens are not brilliant but they were forced by their parents" :p

On a similar note, I just learned that my lawyer filed my application today. Her reasoning being very similar to that of Vin_a_99’s.
I am one of the skeptics, and do not believe this lawsuit will do any good from CIS front, but I will throw my hat in the ring as I believe at the very least this will bring our issue to light.
On a side note, since my application is filed, I am now eligible for company reimbursement for all my expenses…great news and its Friday…lots of pints coming up.:)

My PD is April 2002 which has become current as per the june bulletin. My I-140 was approved in April 2007 and the NVC created the case on May 15th 2007.
I have opted for consular proceesing.
My questions is at what stage of the further processing do i get a visa number allocated ?
Is it when NVC sends the fee receipt to my attorney or is it when the case is transferred to the consulate ?
I just want to know at what stage now i become insulated from any possible retrogression in the coming months.
Any help much appreciated

Question gurus... I have a xerox copy of my approved I-140. Will this be enough to port the priority date? or do you need the original copy to be submitted along with the new I-140 application when you request portability of older priority date?? please clarify.

That's not correct. Such frequent reentry after exit will certainly lead to suspicion by an Immigration office at PoE. In fact the intent of 10 year visitor visa is not 10 years of permanent residence. If there is no convincing reason for such frequent reentry you are mostly likely looking at serious interrogation or deportation at the airport. There is no substitute for a GC for your parents if you want them to be with you permanently in the US. Visitor visa has a specific purpose and intent, abusing it could put your folks serious trouble. The other issue with such long term stay on Visitor Visa is - medical insurance - unfortunately there is no good, reliable and comprehensive medical insurance that covers elderly visitors on short trip.
Health insurance is not an issue these days as there are several indian firms covering it for foreign travel

Even if this system comes into existence, it should not be affecting us because we are already certified as eligible based on labor certification.

They have stopped issuing Interim EADs.
