Rooney doesn't wish Kai to be a footballer

Wayne Rooney says he would rather his son, Kai, became a rock star than follow in his England footballer dad's sporting footsteps.

The 24-year-old striker also reckons he gets a bigger kick from fatherhood than from playing football.

‘Becoming a dad was the proudest moment of my life. Playing football does not even compare,’ says the Manchester United star, who is England’s big hope at the World Cup finals.

‘I wouldn’t push Kai to be a footballer – I’d be happy with whatever he wants to do. I’d probably rather he was into music rather than football to be honest.’

Rooney also said that he and his England footballing colleagues ‘speak about our children all the time’, adding: ‘We’re like old women talking about the kids.’
