Rooney didn't expect England to beat Germany...Here's the proof>>

Wayne Rooney will today fly to Barbados for a holiday booked two days before England’s dismal World Cup exit.

The Manchester United striker and wife Coleen confirmed a trip to the Caribbean on Friday morning - more than 48 hours ahead of the dismal 4-1 defeat by Germany.

While fans disappointed by the performance of England and Rooney would not deny the nation's supposed best player a holiday, they might be surprised to learn he was contemplating anything other than World Cup glory.

But at least the 24-year-old has cancelled a money-spinning appearance at the A:3K soccer skills challenge scheduled for the O2 Arena this summer.

Mrs Rooney’s brothers Joseph and Anthony will also join them on the trip to the Caribbean, flying first-class on British Airways at a cost of £5,923 each.

They will first stay at Rooney’s £5million Barbados mansion before going on a luxury cruise liner - then flying to gambling paradise Las Vegas for ten days.

Last night, his management told The Sun he had made ‘contingency plans’ allowing him to go abroad at different stages of the tournament.

And as the bitter backlash over the nation’s worst ever World Cup defeat continued, the striker, who failed to score at the tournament, will be glad to be out of the country.

He is part of an exodus of England players and staff fleeing rather than staying at home to face the wrath of fans.
