Rooney didn't expect England to beat Germany...Here's the proof>>

Wayne Rooney will today fly to Barbados for a holiday booked two days before England’s dismal World Cup exit.

The Manchester United striker and wife Coleen confirmed a trip to the Caribbean on Friday morning - more than 48 hours ahead of the dismal 4-1 defeat by Germany.

While fans disappointed by the performance of England and Rooney would not deny the nation's supposed best player a holiday, they might be surprised to learn he was contemplating anything other than World Cup glory.

But at least the 24-year-old has cancelled a money-spinning appearance at the A:3K soccer skills challenge scheduled for the O2 Arena this summer.

Mrs Rooney’s brothers Joseph and Anthony will also join them on the trip to the Caribbean, flying first-class on British Airways at a cost of £5,923 each.

They will first stay at Rooney’s £5million Barbados mansion before going on a luxury cruise liner - then flying to gambling paradise Las Vegas for ten days.

Last night, his management told The Sun he had made ‘contingency plans’ allowing him to go abroad at different stages of the tournament.

And as the bitter backlash over the nation’s worst ever World Cup defeat continued, the striker, who failed to score at the tournament, will be glad to be out of the country.

He is part of an exodus of England players and staff fleeing rather than staying at home to face the wrath of fans.

England lost at World Cup simply because England's BEST Midfield Passer wasn't in the squad!

So much is being made of England's poor passing ability in midfield after the sorry exit from the World Cup that News of the World decided to look at which English players had the best stats in this area last season.

According to Opta's analysis, Paul Scholes and Jermaine Jenas came out on top.

From the table shown below, we can guess why Fabio Capello tried to persuade Scholes to end his international exile while Jenas was overlooked for the 30-man provisional squad despite being previously involved under the Italian coach.

Only Chelsea's John Obi Mikel is higher in our table after posting an 89.76% success rate.
Michael Essien was next in the rankings, ahead of Arsenal trio Emmanuel Eboue, Denilson and Samir Nasri.

Looking further down the list, Spaniard Mikel Arteta could qualify for England due to the residency laws and he's ahead of other candidates for the Three Lions.

Michael Carrick and Aaron Lennon, two players who did make the 23-man squad, are sandwiched between Fulham's Jonathan Greening while Jimmy Bullard, who was much maligned by Hull fans, still managed to record an impressive pass completion rate.

£1,400 pram for baby Kai

With an England footballer for a father, you would expect Kai Rooney to have the best of everything, which is why Coleen Rooney has splashed out £1,400 on a pram for their seven-month-old son.

The WAG was spotted out shopping in Liverpool with the luxury Roberto Cavalli baby buggy yesterday.

Helpfully, the logo for the designer uses his initials - two C's intersected with an R - which are also Coleen's.

So the logo-ed pram matches her silver Land Rover, which has her initials embroidered into the seats.

The 24-year-old, who has just signed a £4.5million deal to be the face of Littlewoods, wore a colourful maxi dress with Chanel flip flops for her trip out with her mother yesterday.

Giorgio Chiellini learns English to join Man Utd?

Manchester United target Giorgio Chiellini has been learning English at university.

Chiellini, who has also been linked with Manchester City and a host of big clubs in Europe, has left the door open to a big money move to the Premier League this summer.

A typically rugged Italian centre half, Chiellini himself would blend well into the Premier League, thanks also to his good language skills.

The 25-year-old defender is studying part-time at university, majoring in economics but taking English on the side.

Chiellini said: "I'm doing a university course in economics, because I like it, I like this debate. And I had one exam in English.

"I have finished the first year of three years, and I have the specialisation from September.
"It's not a problem for me, the language.

"My characteristics are ideal for playing in the Premier League. But it's not easy because I stay well in Juventus and Juventus - I think - don't want to sell me. But in life, I don't know. In the future, we will see."

Luis Fabiano wanted to be a Red Devil

Brazil striker Luis Fabiano has revealed a move to Manchester United would be very attractive.

Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano, who netted twice for his country in the World Cup defeat of Ivory Coast, would relish a move to Old Trafford - or the San Siro.

He said: 'I have made it clear I will not be signing a new contract with Sevilla and at 29 I now need to join a club where I can start challenging for the highest honours from the first season.

'The choice will come down to Manchester United and AC Milan, That is the sort of team I want to be signing for, one of the true giants of Europe.

'
I think the way Manchester United play football is very attractive. I must be honest and say Premier League football attracts me and also the way Manchester United play football attracts me.

'You think about being Wayne Rooney's strike partner and that is very attractive for any striker.'

Luis Fabiano believes the mentality with the Premier League runners-up is spot-on.
He continued in Daily Star Sunday: 'Their coach is a winner, their players are winners and they are one of the few teams in Europe challenging for the top honours season after season.

'As soon as the World Cup is over I will make a quick decision on my future - and while it is going on I hope Sevilla can open discussions.

'I have enjoyed my time here but I now need to be at a giant.'

His vision does not include a switch to Tottenham, with whom he has been linked recently. Luis Fabiano added: 'There would be no point in me joining Tottenham, I might as well stay at Sevilla, it's the same thing.

'Sevilla are actually bigger when you look at how much we have been in the European Cup, so there would be no point me moving to a smaller team.'

OwenS fit for pre-season training

Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves have given Manchester United a massive boost by declaring themselves fit for pre-season training.

The first-team squad - excluding the World Cup stars - are due back on July 5 but both Owen and Hargreaves have already been in at the Red Devils' Carrington training ground to work with the fitness team.

Owen has worked ferociously to recover from the knee injury that cut short his season.
The United staff have been impressed with his dedication and are convinced he is ready to take a full part in pre-season and the club's tour of America and Canada.

Owen will be joined by Hargreaves, who is over his 20-month injury crisis. The England midfielder managed a brief end-of-season bow against Sunderland after crippling tendinitis threatened his career.

He has recently returned from a trip to Colorado, where he continues to receive treatment.
But there have been no ill-effects and Hargreaves has been able to maintain a high-intensity training programme through the summer, much to the relief of manger Sir Alex Ferguson and England boss Fabio Capello.

Capello even considered Hargreaves as part of the pre-World Cup party until Fergie made it clear the player was not match-fit.

The FA's medical staff, however, have been monitoring his fitness with Capello pencilling Hargreaves in for an international return in September for the start of the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Chile and Ecuador hot prospect have their heart set on a move to Manchester United

Chile superstar Alexis Sanchez has his heart set on a move to Manchester United.

The Udinese winger has been forwarded as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo ever since the Portuguese icon was sold to Real Madrid.

And his performances at the World Cup have only enhanced his growing reputation, despite being surprisingly substituted against Spain.

Sanchez's sparkling form has reaffirmed Sir Alex Ferguson's interest in his services and sources close to the player claim he's dreamed of joining the Red Devils since his boyhood years.

"All Alexis wants is to play for Manchester United," revealed a Chile team-mate, who did not want to be named.

"He'd give anything for that."

Udinese insist they don't want to sell the 21-year-old, who is nicknamed 'El Nino Maravilla' (the Wonder Boy), but it's understood the wide man would jump at the chance to head for Old Trafford.

Antonio Valencia has replaced Ronaldo on the right flank for the dethroned champions but Sanchez's apparent desire to come to Manchester is certain to give Ferguson some food for thought.

Meanwhile, Villareal winger Jefferson Montero has admitted he would love to play for Manchester United.

The Ecuadorian talent, 20, is very highly regarded having shone all season for the Spanish club's 'B' team.

The Yellow Submarines have promoted Montero to their first-team squad during the close season and he has already impressed at international level with two goals in nine caps.

Montero is determined to play in the same side at club level with United's Antonio Valencia, who enjoyed his first campaign at Old Trafford after arriving from Wigan.

"I hope to play in the same team with him," revealed Montero. "Me on one side and him on the other.

"It would be amazing.

"It is what most people ask me - they want Antonio on the right and me on the left for United.

"Antonio deserves everything he gets as he's done very well.

"He started from not very much - like me.

"I would love to follow in his footsteps and play for Manchester United, if that opportunity arises.

"Who knows what will happen in the future?

"For the moment, I am at Villarreal and have great respect for the team."

Ferdinand to get paid £1m because he was injured!

Lloyd's insurer Watkins may have to pay as much as £1m for injuries to Rio Ferdinand who was hurt during England's South Africa training in the first big World Cup claim, Insurance Times reports.

Ferdinand hurt his knee ligament in England's first training session in South Africa on 4 June. The claim comes from the English Football Association. It has to pay clubs to cover the wages of any player injured on duty for the national side.

The way Lloyd's works and the way insurers split risks, mean other insurers will share the payout. The Manchester United defender earns £120,000 per week and may be out for several weeks to come.

Lloyd's has £6.2bn of World Cup insurance. This includes:

·         Contingency (£3bn) - covering cancellation, competitions and prizes, broadcast rights
·         Liability (£200m) - for example somebody tripping up because flooring had been laid badly
·         Property (£3bn) - the value of the stadiums and training venues.

An individual player at the top of their game and playing in one of the top leagues for their country could be insured for as much as £50m - £40m for the value of their body and £10m for reputation.

Lloyd's said: "That's not to say that all the players out in South Africa at the moment are worth that much." – And they said that before the first game kicked off.

Why Sir Alex wanted to sign Pablo Barrera so badly?

The 22-year-old is an extraordinary winger who is still largely unknown outside of Mexico and North America. Barrera possesses tremendous speed and is capable of controlling and shooting the ball well with both feet, scoring goals from long and short distance as well.

Usually Barrera does so with such grace that despite being naturally right footed sometimes it’s a hard task to say what his natural foot is. He likes to run down both flanks, is capable of swapping positions during the game and uses his deadly crosses in order to create opportunities.

When Barrera is on the pitch he gives his team the option of playing fast, coming from behind and catching the opponents’ defence off guard with lethal counter attacks. He is also an efficient player in a slower tempo game thanks to his one on one ability.

His technique and dribbling skills, together with his pace and acceleration gives him the ability of beating his opponents with ease and despite the fact he is not a striker he has quite good composure in front of goal and is capable of scoring goals.

Barrera, whose talent was already spotted in Mexico early on, came through the youth system at Pumas back in 2005. Two years later he became a regular player for his club and in 2008/09 was part of the side that won the Clausura title and things looked bright for the young prospect at the time.

It also didn’t take long for Barrera’s talent to be noticed by clubs around the world and there were already rumors linking Arsenal to the player, after the English side sent scouts to follow the young starlet for three months. But then Barrera’s luck took a bad turn. Barrera had to undergo surgery in order to repair a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee back in July 2008.

It took Barrera six months to recover from the injury and it slowed his progress down at a crucial time, just before a likely lucrative transfer. Yet, Barrera is not one who will give up when things are tough. During the 2009/10 season Barrera has regained his full confidence and physical condition and he is a first team regular for his team and one of the most dominant and cultured players at Pumas.

Ever since the Clausura started, back in January 2010, he has been in very good form, playing at a high level and is one of the most dominant players in the entire Mexican league. Judging from his speed and movement it seems that his old injury doesn't affect him at all.

Barrera is still young and needs to get physically stronger in order to fit in at a high level European club and also improve some other tactical aspects of his game. But he may well have to settle for a place on the bench in South Africa in the group stages but there is no doubt that if he will be able to take advantage of the opportunity when it will come, a good performance at the World Cup will surely set his career back on track towards European football.

Paul Scholes to follow Solskjaer's footsteps soon

Paul Scholes wants to go into coaching when he hangs up his boots at the end of next season. The Manchester United midfielder has agreed to play for one more campaign at Old Trafford.

He revealed: "I am coming to the end of my playing career and I maybe have one year left.

"I have started doing my coaching badges back in England and hopefully one day I will be able to coach kids or coach some kind of team somewhere."

Scholes narrowly missed out on a 10th Premier League champion's medal when Chelsea pipped the Red Devils to the title last season.

But United boss Alex Ferguson believes Scholes still has the quality for another year at the top.

And the 35-year-old is under no illusions about the influence the great Scot has had on his career.

The ex-England star said: "He has been great. It goes without saying what a top manager he has been.

"The amount of players he has brought through the youth team is great and it gives hope to all the kids in the youth team that if they are good enough he will definitely use them.

"It has just been fantastic working with him and I think there is a good few years left in him yet."
