Valencia preparing major offer for Berbatov

Valencia are interested in Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The Sofia Echo says Valencia are considering making a £14 million bid for last season's Premier League Golden Boot.

Berbatov has a year left on his current contract and appears to be on the outer at Old Trafford.

Valencia will have the cash to buy the Bulgarian should they sell Arsenal target Juan Mata in the coming weeks.

PSG to make £10M offer for striker Berbatov

PSG are launching a bid for striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The Daily Star says they are preparing a £10m bid for Berbatov.
They want the striker to be their marquee summer signing. The French club have money to burn after their £150m takeover by Qatar Investments.
It makes them potentially huge spenders in the European transfer market. And Berbatov fits their bill according to new boss Leonardo.
It is understood members of the club’s new Middle East board held a meeting at the weekend with Berbatov’s agent Emile Dantchev.
And now they are preparing to make a formal offer to United for the 30-year-old who could be surplus to requirements.

Berbatov delighted with Golden Boot

Dimitar Berbatov was delighted to finish the season with the Premier League's Golden Boot.
The Bulgarian’s 20 goals were enough to share top spot in the scorers’ chart with City’s former Red Carlos Tevez and pick up the Golden Boot award from Barclays.
In a season where the classy striker hit three hat-tricks, including an incredible five-goal show against Blackburn, the prize is certainly well merited.
“On a personal level I’m delighted to win this award,” he told ManUtd.com. “To finish as the joint-top scorer in the best league in the world is a huge honour and something I’ll always be very proud of. I love scoring goals and providing entertainment for the fans – I hope I’ve done that this season.

“Most importantly, though, I feel happy knowing that my goals helped the team win the league. We made history this season by winning the title for the 19th time and it was a great feeling to be involved in that achievement. Individual awards are fine, but they mean nothing if you don’t win trophies as well.
“I want to thank the United fans for their support and, of course, my team-mates, who make it very easy for me to enjoy my time here and score goals.”

Dimitar Berbatov moves closer to Manchester United exit as contract talks break down

Dimitar Berbatov’s contract talks with Manchester United have broken down and the Premier League’s leading scorer could be heading out of Old Trafford this summer.

Berbatov was told the club were ready to hand him a two-year extension to his current deal, which runs out in in June 2012, during initial negotiations just before Christmas and was confident of putting pen to paper before the end of the season.

But when the Bulgarian returned to the negotiating table earlier this year, the offer had been downgraded to a one-year rolling deal, albeit on improved terms.

United are prepared to hike his wages from £80,000-a-week to around £120,000-a-week as reward for his role in propelling the club to a six-point lead in the Premier League table.

However, there has been no indication from the Old Trafford hierarchy over the last six weeks that a longer contract will be on offer.

Berbatov, who did not travel with the squad to Gelsenkirchen for Tuesday night’s semi-final first leg against Schalke because of a groin injury, is unhappy that he has been relegated down the United pecking order in that time despite heading the Premier League scoring charts with 21 goals.

“The combination of Berbatov turning 30 [in January] and the rise of Javier Hernandez has changed things,”

“Hernandez was not expected to perform as well as he has and the return of Wayne Rooney to top form has also weakened Berbatov’s case for a longer contract.”
It now seems increasingly likely that the former Tottenham striker will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season following an often difficult three-year spell at the club.

Despite his age, he will not be short of suitors, although United will want to recoup at least half of the club record £30.75 million fee they paid Spurs for the player in August 2008. Sir Alex Ferguson will then turn his attention to securing a younger replacement for the Bulgarian.

Although talks have reached a stalemate with Berbatov, United are confident they can soon tie Hernandez to an improved five-year deal following his brilliant debut campaign.

The club’s hierarchy have been working tirelessly behind the scenes in recent months to protect themselves from predators by extending the contracts of key players.

Hernandez is set to follow in the footsteps of Patrice Evra, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs, who have all signed new deals in recent months. Paul Scholes has still not decided whether to accept the club’s offer of a one-year contract extension.

Berbatov lined up for shock cut-price Tottenham return

Dimitar Berbatov is being lined up for a shock return to Tottenham.
The Sunday Mirror says Berbatov will have just one year left on his Man Utd contract at the end of the season – and talks over a new deal have so far stalled.
That has alerted Spurs, who sold Berbatov to United three years ago for £30 million.
United face the threat of losing the hit-man on a free transfer if they allow his contract to run down and expire in June 2012.
And with Berbatov now 30, it appears United will not offer him more than a one-year extension.
If United and the player cannot reach agreement, they can take the option to sell him rather than lose him on a free.
Spurs would not want to pay more than £8m for the striker – and that would represent a smart move by chairman Daniel Levy.

Sevilla to launch serious bid for Berbatov

Sevilla are ready to bid for Dimitar Berbatov.
The Sun says Berba's contract runs out next summer and the Spaniards hope to land him in a cut-price £12million deal.
Berbatov, 30, is United's top scorer but is now playing second fiddle to Javier Hernandez.
Seville have sounded out the Bulgarian's agent Emile Dantchev but any deal depends if United will take such a cut after paying Spurs £30.75m for him in 2008.
Berbatov has hit 48 goals in 123 games - including 22 and three hat-tricks this season - but fans have never warmed to him.
Hernandez is seen as the better option alongside Rooney.

Bayern Munich clear striker decks to convince Man Utd ace Berbatov

Bayern Munich will make an offer for striker Dimitar Berbatov in the summer.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star is wanted at Bayern as a replacement for Miroslav Klose, who is leaving on a free transfer.
Bayern may also cash in on Mario Gomes, so clearing the way for Bayern to guarantee Berbatov he will be first-choice should he agree to return to the Bundesliga.
Berbatov has just over a year to run on his current deal and is waiting to discuss new terms.
The player's agent last week insisted the striker was keen to play out his career at Old Trafford.

Ferguson delighted with Man Utd strikers goals record

Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with the output of his forward line.
Ferguson feels his striker's form has covered the injury problems his squad has suffered this season.
“What has kept us going despite the injuries we have had in defensive positions is that there has been a good goal threat from us. We have forwards who can win matches,” said Sir Alex.
“I am happy with our forward play. Chicharito’s development is a great bonus. Wayne Rooney’s form is coming back. They have been marvellous the two of them together.
“I said at the start of the season if we get two players who can score over 20 goals we are in with a great chance of winning something. Wayne is now on 12. Chicharito is on 17 and Berbatov is on 21. That is a good return and we have quite a few games left.
“I think my prediction is going to be accurate.”

Berbatov keen to play out career at Man Utd - agent

Dimitar Berbatov wants to play out his career at Manchester United.
The agent of Berbatov, Emil Dantchev, insists talk of a move away is wide of the mark.
He told TMW: "My client, although this obviously depends not only on him, would be happy to close his career in Manchester.
"Has there have been requests from foreign clubs? This is news that I refuse to comment on, I only say that even if there was a club interested in him, I doubt they would have the financial means to meet the demands of his current club."

New contract for Berbatov and Ferdinand very soon.

Manchester United are ready to open new contract talks with Dimitar Berbatov.
The Manchester Evening Newssays on Friday his agent Emil Dantchev flew into England for a face-to-face meeting with Old Trafford chief executive David Gill – on the very same day Sir Alex delivered the news to the 20-goal striker that he wouldn’t start against City on Saturday in the key title battle.
On Sunday, however, it is understood that Dantchev and Gill held their initial talks to discuss a new lucrative deal for Berbatov.
The club’s record signing joined the Reds from Spurs in August 2008 and signed a four- year deal on his arrival.
That contract is up next summer and United are keen to tie the player down to a new agreement.
The Bulgarian is on an Old Trafford salary believed to be around £100,000 a week, but having seen Wayne Rooney capture a new £250,000- a-week deal earlier in the season, Berbatov could still expect to pocket an extra £75,000 on his current earnings.
Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand is ready to open talks over a new Manchester United contract.
The defender has declared he'd like to play out his career with United.
Now 32, Ferdinand is seeking a two-year extension, says the News of the World.
For the moment, United manager Sir Alex is sticking to club policy by offering the defender a 12-month deal.

Man Utd to offer Evra and Berbatov a new contract.

The Red Devils are desperate to hold on to their star left-back and have offered him a new deal.

Manchester United have offered French left-back Patrice Evra a new deal to prolong his Old Trafford stay until the end of his career, according to The Sun.

With Real Madrid and Inter Milan showing interest in the former France captain, manager Sir Alex Ferguson would like to put an end to rumours and tie Evra down.

The 29-year-old Frenchman still has 18 months left on his £70,000-a-week deal in Manchester and the table-toppers will reportedly award him with an improved contract until 2014.

After offering left-back Patrice Evra a new contract, it has been reported that Manchester United will follow suit with Dimitar Berbatov .

The Red Devils will apparently offer the Bulgarian, who has one-and-a-half seasons left on his current contract, a new three-year deal.

The Sun says the new contract would see the 30-year-old’s wages rise from £100,000 a week to around £120,000 a week.

Berbatov was linked with an Old Trafford exit in the summer, but he has been in excellent form this season.

The striker has scored 19 goals and set up two for the Premier League leaders, including two hat-tricks and a tremendous five-goal haul against Blackburn.

He has a league efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 82 minutes.

Ferguson wins the award for an unprecedented 25th time in his distinguished career.
Bulgarian striker Berbatov, the leading scorer in the Premier League this season, scored five more goals in January to take his tally to 19.

Berbatov: Best form of my life!!

Dimitar Berbatov feels he's in the form of his life after his brace against Blackpool.
It made it five goals in two games for Berbatov but he feels his best football is ahead of him.
He said: "Personally, I hope this is not the best football of my career - I hope the best is still in the future in a United shirt."
But Berba conceded: "The substitutions did change the game. Giggs has experience and his cross was excellent and Chicharito just wants to score goals - but it was the team spirit that won the game."

Hat-trick of videos for Berbatov's hat-trick for Manchester United in 2010-11

Berbatov now has 17 Premier League goals for the season in 22 games. Fifteen of those goals have come at Old Trafford, and his record of three hat-tricks equals Ruud van Nistelrooy's in 2002-03 - and he is closing in on the Premier League record set by Alan Shearer 15 years ago of five in a campaign.
To keep you all in the loop, here are Dimitar Berbatov's three hat-tricks so far in 2010-11.

1. Dimitar Berbatov scores three v Liverpool, September 19, 2010. Probably the best hat-trick of the lot as it came against great rivals Liverpool and was also truly the difference between winning and not winning the match. Whilst the first goal of the three was a decent header, the second was a sensational overhead kick that will go down as one of the goals of the season. The third was the winner on 84 minutes and this was arguably the day when Berbatov proved his worth at Old Trafford.

2. Dimitar Berbatov claims five v Blackburn, November 27, 2010. The star of a 7-1 win, Berbatov became just the fourth player to score five goals in a game in Premier League history. In truth the former Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham striker was presented with some easy chances, thanks to fine build-up play by the likes of Rooney and Nani, but he gobbled up the chances and took another major stride towards winning over the Manchester United faithful.

3. Dimitar Berbatov's third hat-trick of the season v Birmingham, January 22, 2011. The opener came after 90 seconds, Berbatov heading in from on the line after a John O'Shea flick on. The second came just after the half hour, Berbatov easing past Roger Johnson and then firing past Ben Foster after Rooney had played him in. The hat-trick was completed seven minutes after the break with Giggs and Rooney involved (sensational control from an Edwin van der Sar clearance).

Berbatov now feels he belongs at Manchester United..The same with the fans!

It's taken a couple of years, but Dimitar Berbatov now feels he belongs at Manchester United.
That's the claim of United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen, who has worked closely with the forward.
“I said to him once in training to think of himself as the best musician in the world and, as a team, we’re the best orchestra in the world.” Meulensteen told the Telegraph.
“Everyone is playing the same tune and Berba is elevating the whole performance. He is a vital ingredient to what the team is trying to achieve.
“Berba sees the art and beauty of bringing a ball down from 30 yards, then flicking it through with a back-heel. It’s an artistic approach which gives colour to the game and makes him colourful.
“He wants to be key for the team. He understands what he needs to do to be key for the team and that’s clear in his performances.”

Revealed...Do you know why Man Utd offer Berbatov new contract?

Manchester United's move to secure Dimitar Berbatov to a new deal has been sparked by interest from Real Madrid.
Real president Florentino Perez is a big fan of Berbatov and made an enquiry after the Bulgarian last week with United officials.
United insisted Berba was not for sale - and it emerged over the weekend that they were preparing to offer the striker a new deal worth £120,000-a-week.
Berbatov currently is the top scorer in this season's Premier League.

Dimitar Berbatov to enter into discussions over a £120,000-a-week contract extension

Dimitar Berbatov is believed to be on the verge of beginning contract talks with Manchester United to land a deal worth about £120,000-a-week.

The former Bulgaria international has scored 14 goals in 15 appearances in the Premier League this season, and is currently at the top of the goalscoring charts.

It has been a rocky road for the former Tottenham Hotspur man, who was widely regarded as a flop during his first two seasons with the club - when he gained the dubious distinction among United fans of being spoken of in the same breath as Diego Forlan.

Now, though, with only 18 months left on his existing contract, The News of the World claims that the hitman - who turns 30 at the end of this month - intends to sign a longer contract than the one-year deal the club usually offer players of his age.

However, it is thought that the in-form marksman could be prepared to sign a one-year deal if the club were to offer him a weekly wage of around £120,000-a-week.

Another reported option for United is to offer him a contract on a lower wage, but over a longer period than a one-year extension.

Berbatov's rich vein of goalscoring has seen him rise to 15th in the Castrol Rankings, up from 38th the previous month.

Berbatov prefers to retire than leaving Man Utd!

Dimitar Berbatov says he'd sooner retire than leave Manchester United
The striker insists any move from United is a massive step down.
The Bulgarian, coming into the final 18 months of his contract, is not about to give up his No.9 shirt.
"I fought to have a chance to play for United and now I can only go down if I leave," Berbatov told the Telegraph.
"Why I should do this? It would be better to retire."
