Darren Fletcher to follow Gary Neville's footsteps

Darren Fletcher is ready to pledge the remainder of his career to Manchester United.

The Reds midfielder, 26, has two years remaining on his current deal and the club have opened talks about a lucrative new contract worth £80,000 a week.

Fletcher said: "For me, there's nowhere better than United and if I can play my whole career at this club, I'll be a happy man. There's something very special about staying at one club for your whole career - Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are all legends.

"To get anywhere close to that would be a real achievement."

Fletcher got married this summer, but admits last season's disappointments have been hard to get over.

"After three fantastic seasons of winning the league it was hard to take," he added. "Now there's more determination amongst the lads because of those disappointments."
