Rooney party till early morning before joining Man Utd preseason

Wayne Rooney lived it up on the final days of his summer break before returning to Man Utd for preseason training.

Rooney was granted extended leave by United after his World Cup campaign.

The Sun says the £140,000-a-week Man United striker and wife Coleen stepped out with pals to spend a night on the razzle at a Manchester city centre bar.

And as some Red Devils team-mates completed rigorous pre-season fitness tours, Wayne painted the town red, staying at the venue until 5.30am yesterday, when he emerged singing raucous football songs in the street.

One onlooker told The Sun how the soccer star - who suffered World Cup disappointment with England - danced while pals at his VIP table sank £250 magnum bottles of vodka, some mixed with cola.

Looking a tad worse for wear as he left the club, Wayne was seen smoking and peeing next to a bottle bank in Manchester City Centre.

Coleen looked in a better state, but was clearly feeling weary as she removed her Christian Louboutin heels and walked barefoot as they tried to flag down a taxi.

Anderson cheated death as he survives horror car crash

Manchester United star Anderson was recovering last night after being dragged unconscious from the burning wreckage of a sports car, seconds before it exploded.

The Sun reports the "lifeless" Brazilian international, 22, was pulled to safety after the £125,000 Audi R8 car hit a wall in Portugal with witnesses reporting the player saying he owed them his life. He had been recuperating after treatment to a knee injury.

The Audi R8 sports car, with Anderson’s male friend at the wheel, slid off the road and hit a wall before flying 100 feet through the air and landing in a field.

He is said to have spent several hours in hospital with "concussion, whiplash and shock". Hospital spokesman Roman Fresco said: "They had only minor injuries. The girl needed more care, but for little things.'

The smash, being probed by cops, happened in the Geres area of Braga. A man and young Brazilian woman were also reported to have been in the two-seater car. It was not known who was driving.

A spokesman for Anderson said he'd suffered "an almighty scare".

Ben Amos can be Man Utd No 1

Sir Alex Ferguson says Ben Amos has every chance of becoming a homegrown No1.

He wants to give young goalkeeper Amos the chance to prove he can be Van Der Sar’s long-term successor before splashing the cash, having promoted the 20-year-old to No3.

Ferguson is hopeful he can succeed where a long line of talented youngsters have failed and establish himself as a future No1 at United.

He has sent Amos a clear message that the door is open, to one day become first choice at Old Trafford.

“We think he is an outstanding young goalkeeper,” he said. “He has an incredible physique and is improving his speed.

“When it comes to experience, he will have to wait because Edwin Van Der Sar is still showing good form and Tomasz Kuszczak is very good too. But his time will come because he has got the ability.”
