Stade Rennes' sprightly defensive midfielder among the France national team's stars of the future.
20-year-old Yann M'Vila is one of France's most promising defensive midfielders and has emerged as a target for the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in recent months.
He is currently in his second season with Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennes and is a key member of the side that is competing for a first ever league title in the club's history.
M'Vila started his youth career at the age of six when he joined ES Sains-Saint-Fussien; stints at Amiens SC and Mantes ensued before he arrived at the Stade Rennes youth academy, in which he spent five years leading up to the signing of a professional contract and a place in the senior side.
His integration into the Stade Rennes first team was perfect and he went on to appear 35 times in his debut season.
M'Vila has been a member of the France national team at every level, amassing an incredible 54 appearances for his country's youth sides. He captained the U-19 team at the 2009 U-19 European Championships in Ukraine before making the step up to the senior national side in a friendly match against Norway in August 2010.
Despite being named in then-France manager Raymond Domenech's 30-players shortlist for the 2010 World Cup, he ultimately did not travel to partcipate in the competition, but new national team boss Laurent Blanc has clearly placed hopes in the midfielder who has featured for the new-look Tricolour regularly in recent months.
M'Vila is a hard-working, steely defensive midfielder who has got the characteristics required to become a top-level player in the coming years.
He is strong and energetic, covers ground, pressures the opposition and performs his defensive tasks with enthusiasm and determination.

But while his defensive capabilities and maturity alone make him stand out as one of the French top flight's best players in his role, M'Vila also offers attacking qualities.
He has got an accurate pass and is comfortable enough with the ball at his feet to keep possession while his teammates pour forward.
Rennes will likely deny approaches for their star midfielder for less than £15m, especially as M'Vila has extended his contract with the club in the summer.
But clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus, Liverpool and Lyon have already expressed interest while Manchester United seem most serious about the prospect of tying up a deal for the 20-year-old at the end of the current campaign.
