Braga's Nigerian left-back a shock target for Man Utd

Braga left-back Elderson Echiejile has emerged as a shock target for Manchester United as they look to put pressure on Patrice Evra, according to The People.

The 22-year-old only arrived in Portugal this summer after shining for Nigeria at World Cup 2010. He has made a swift impact and found the back of the net as Celtic were dumped out of the Champions League in the preliminary stages.

Echiejile has already appeared in the Champions League this term, so manager Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be ready to tie up a £6 million deal for next summer. The ex-Rennes defender would be brought in to bring the best out of Evra and eventually succeed the 29-year-old.

However, Manchester United will not be making any early swoop for Braga fullback Elderson Echiejile.
The People says the powerful defender would qualify for a work permit because he has been a Nigeria regular.
United will do more checks on him after the fallout about Bebe, who moved to them in similar circumstances.
He went from obscurity to make two moves in a matter of weeks and was signed on the advice of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson’s Portuguese spies.
So United are keen to be sure about a move for Elderson.
