Man Utd player won PFA Player of the Year award for the 4th year in a row!!!!

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been named the 2010 PFA Player of the Year after a marvellous season that has seen him score 34 times in all competitions and help the Red Devils in their bid for a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The England international is fighting some injury problems but won the award comfortably ahead of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez.

The Manchester United striker, still leading the Premier League scorers' chart, is in with a shout of lifting the title and headed the winner in the Carling Cup Final.

His exceptional form for the Red Devils has compensated for the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in the summer.

With two-time PFA Player of the Year Christiano Ronaldo departing Old Trafford for Real Madrid in the summer, Rooney has responded with the best season of his career, scoring more goals than in any previous campaign and helping United win the League Cup.

The 24-year-old is also the favourite for the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award. "Wayne has been absolutely phenomenal once again and, in his new role this season, has created even more havoc for opposition defences," said chief Gorton Taylor on the official website of the PFA.

When Cristiano Ronaldo was at United, Wayne played more of a supporting role, but as the number one striker and goalscorer he is now one of the best in the world, not just in this country.

With Rooney winning the award this season it means that a United player has won the award for the fourth year in a row as Ryan Giggs won it last year and Ronaldo received the award in each of the two seasons before that.

Rooney won the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, but this year the honour went to Aston Villa’s James Milner, who has enjoyed a fine season for the Champions League hopefuls.

Now, PFA Player of the Year aside, What about the PFA Team of the Year? United had four players picked in the PFA team. Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa had two each.

England's top stars have been snubbed by their fellow pros. Only striker Wayne Rooney got into the PFA Premier League Team of the Season last night. He was joined by team-mates Patrice Evra, Darren Fletcher and summer signing Antonio Valencia.

Frank Lampard netted his 20th league goal of the season for Chelsea yesterday against Wigan but was ignored. So was Steven Gerrard to reflect his poor season at Anfield.

Ashley Cole was beaten to the left-back spot by Patrice Evra, while centre-half John Terry's poor form this season saw him lose out to Richard Dunn and Thomas Vermaelen.
