Patrice Evra : Man Utd most consistent "Player of the Year"

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed Patrice Evra as the best left-back in the world and identified him as Manchester United's unsung hero this season.

While Wayne Rooney has taken all the plaudits for his 34-goal heroics, United boss Fergie singled out Evra as his most consistent performer this term.

Evra, who has played in every one of United's Premier League games this season, beat Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole to be named in the PFA Team of the Year.

Fergie claimed no other Premier League player had come close to matching the French international for consistency of performance this season. (Don't be surprised if Patrice Evra instead of Wayne Rooney is voted as Man Utd Player of the Year)

"The form of Evra has been sensational all season," said Fergie. There's no-one near Evra's consistency. No-one.

"He's the one player who has not missed any games. He's only not started one Premier League game all season.

"We rested him at Blackburn because he I think he needed a break then, but he came on as a sub there and has done tremendously well since then.

Evra won the penalty that set United on their way to a crucial 3-1 win over Tottenham last weekend, with a typical attacking run, before being forced off after being sick on the pitch.

The 28-year-old had been struggling with a bug in the build-up to the Spurs game, but Fergie said it was a measure of Evra's dependability that he insisted on playing for United.

"Evra was sick at half-time and eventually we had to take him off because the problem was dehydration," said Fergie.

"We had a bit of sickness with two or three players but Patrice felt okay to play and wanted to play."

Man Utd player won PFA Player of the Year award for the 4th year in a row!!!!

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been named the 2010 PFA Player of the Year after a marvellous season that has seen him score 34 times in all competitions and help the Red Devils in their bid for a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The England international is fighting some injury problems but won the award comfortably ahead of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez.

The Manchester United striker, still leading the Premier League scorers' chart, is in with a shout of lifting the title and headed the winner in the Carling Cup Final.

His exceptional form for the Red Devils has compensated for the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in the summer.

With two-time PFA Player of the Year Christiano Ronaldo departing Old Trafford for Real Madrid in the summer, Rooney has responded with the best season of his career, scoring more goals than in any previous campaign and helping United win the League Cup.

The 24-year-old is also the favourite for the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award. "Wayne has been absolutely phenomenal once again and, in his new role this season, has created even more havoc for opposition defences," said chief Gorton Taylor on the official website of the PFA.

When Cristiano Ronaldo was at United, Wayne played more of a supporting role, but as the number one striker and goalscorer he is now one of the best in the world, not just in this country.

With Rooney winning the award this season it means that a United player has won the award for the fourth year in a row as Ryan Giggs won it last year and Ronaldo received the award in each of the two seasons before that.

Rooney won the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, but this year the honour went to Aston Villa’s James Milner, who has enjoyed a fine season for the Champions League hopefuls.

Now, PFA Player of the Year aside, What about the PFA Team of the Year? United had four players picked in the PFA team. Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa had two each.

England's top stars have been snubbed by their fellow pros. Only striker Wayne Rooney got into the PFA Premier League Team of the Season last night. He was joined by team-mates Patrice Evra, Darren Fletcher and summer signing Antonio Valencia.

Frank Lampard netted his 20th league goal of the season for Chelsea yesterday against Wigan but was ignored. So was Steven Gerrard to reflect his poor season at Anfield.

Ashley Cole was beaten to the left-back spot by Patrice Evra, while centre-half John Terry's poor form this season saw him lose out to Richard Dunn and Thomas Vermaelen.

How Man Utd win against Tottenham>>

United lined up in a fairly standard 4-4-2 shape – Ryan Giggs played off to the right of Dimitar Berbatov rather than from midfield, with Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher taking it in turns to venture forward.

Spurs also lined up 4-4-2, although there were switches from the sides that beat Arsenal and Chelsea – Benoit Assou-Ekotto was moved to right-back, Gareth Bale brought back to left-back, Luka Modric went out to the left of midfield, and Wilson Palacios came into the centre. Jermain Defoe continued to drop off when Spurs didn’t have the ball, although with United playing a midfield two rather than a midfield three, his presence wasn’t needed too much.

Nevertheless, the fact that Defoe played deeper for Spurs than Giggs did for United meant that Spurs often had more players in the centre of midfield. To add to this, Modric played very narrow from the left, and Spurs were well in the game until half-time, although they struggled to create any chances.

Modric struggled to put his stamp on the game – shunted out to the left, rather than excelling in the centre alongside Tom Huddlestone, as he did against Arsenal and against Chelsea. Part of the problem was that he was up against Antonio Valencia, who is excellent defensively – on more than one occasion Modric made an excellent diagonal run but was tracked all the way by Valencia.

The most surprising feature of the first half was how rarely United’s full-backs got forward – as against Arsenal and Chelsea, Spurs played extremely narrow, but neither Patrice Evra or Rafael were consistently getting forward to stretch the play.

The second half was more open, and it was no surprise that United’s opener came when Evra finally got forward, and into the penalty area on the left – Assou-Ekotto made a stupid tackle to bring him down, and Giggs scored the subsequent penalty kick.

Harry Redknapp immediately switched things around – bringing on Aaron Lennon for David Bentley, then moving Palacios to right-back, returning Assou-Ekotto to the left, pushing Bale forward and Modric into the middle, making the Spurs side more similar to the one of the past two games.

By this stage Valencia had departed for United through injury. His replacement was Michael Carrick, with United going to 4-5-1 with Giggs on the left and Nani on the right.

And so we had different battles across the pitch suddenly, and most importantly gave Bale the freedom to run at Rafael (with Nani not covering as well as Valencia would have done). Bale forced a corner from Rafael straight away, and Ledley King headed in to give Spurs the equaliser. Rafael – supposed to be marking the far post – moved forward off the line and couldn’t recover in time, as the ball flew past him.

United returned to 4-4-2 with the introduction of Federico Macheda, and this helped catch Spurs out defensively. Assou-Ekotto had gone forward momentarily, Bale covered at left-back, but then completely switched off and failed to track Nani’s run. Macheda made a run towards the ball, drew King towards the play – and then Nani seized on (a) Bale’s lapse in concentration and (b) King moving out of position by following Macheda, to cut in and chip the ball over Gomes.

United’s third was another clumsy foul in the right-back area – this time Palacios run into the back of Nani, and Giggs converted his spot-kick to seal the game.

Assou-Ekotto, Bale and Palacios hardly covered themselves in glory, but all three were playing out-of-position when the mistakes were made. Assou-Ekotto was a left-back playing at right-back, Bale a left-midfielder (in recent weeks) covering at left-back, and Palacios a holding midfielder playing at right-back.

After two such positive results, switching so many players into different positions was a strange move. It’s also fair to say that the narrow formation that worked so well against Arsenal and Chelsea left Spurs exposed against United’s wingers.

Manchester United- The Most Valuable Team by FORBES

Manchester United tops Forbes magazine’s list of the most valuable soccer clubs for the sixth straight year with an estimated market value of $1.8 billion.

The 18-time English champion, controlled by the Florida- based Glazer family, is followed by record nine-time European Cup winner Real Madrid, with a value $1.3 billion. London-based Arsenal, the subject of takeover speculation, completes the top three with a $1.2 billion valuation.

Forbes determined the value using previous sales, broadcast agreements and debt from stadium construction. Real was ranked as soccer’s richest team by revenue in a review published by accountant Deloitte last month. United was third, behind European champion Barcelona.

The top five clubs claimed 86 percent of the $5.5 billion revenue of European soccer’s top 20 clubs for the 2008-09 season “because their worldwide following allows them to grab much more sponsorship and media revenue.

Due to Barcelona’s decision to sell broadcast rights individually, this team has become so wealthy that it doesn’t even need a shirt sponsor.

The top 25 clubs on the list are worth $597M on average, up 8% over the top 25 clubs for the previous season, and these clubs posted an average operating income of $42M for the '07-08 season, a 20% increase.

It was noted that one reason most top clubs have "continued to see revenue increases and post strong profits is that they have lucrative multi-year broadcasting and sponsorship deals that have not been affected by the recession." More than half of the 20 clubs with the highest revenue "signed current uniform sponsors within the last two years." La Liga club Valencia and EPL club West Ham United fell out of the top 25 this year.

Next, richest footballers according to Forbes, the highest ranked Red Devil was at number 8, Wayne Rooney and 17th came Rio Ferdinand.

David Moyes to replace Sir Alex? Good enough?

Alex Ferguson believes David Moyes is the man to succeed him at Old Trafford. Ferguson, 68, is convinced that Everton boss Moyes can provide the continuity United crave to keep them challenging for the top honours.

Manchester United boss is ready to step down after one more season.

Ferguson knows fellow Glaswegian Moyes, 46, well and has constantly championed his achievements at Preston and now Everton. He also believes it is right to give a good British manager the chance to take one of the big jobs in football.

It appeared that Jose Mourinho is the bookies' favourite and enjoys a close relationship with Ferguson from his time as a rival boss with Chelsea. But the United hierarchy, including the influential Sir Bobby Charlton, are not convinced.

From the bottom of your heart, who wants Mourinho as the coach? This "special one" courts controversy all the time....er.. All right, he courts controversy AND success all the time. but I still believe his controversy and arrogance overachieve his success. Besides, Mourinho doesn't hang around. Two years at Porto, three at Chelsea now wants out at Inter. So, Mourinho..don't dream of Old Trafford job any further. You're not wanted!

Guess what, the bookies even linked SAF successor to Arsene Wenger. That was a bit impossible. Wenger have the reputation as best coach in the game and also skilled at unearthing and nurturing talent but I reckons he trust his youngsters too much. Can you imagine Arsene running away from Arsenal FC to MUFC ? That's the kind of difficulties in getting Pep Guardiola as well. Pep and Arsene are bonded to the club! As strong as an elephant glue.Difficult  to separate them.

Fabio Capello was mentioned to be in the frame as well. He vowed to see out his England job until 2012. He will be 65 when Fergie goes. I wish Capello will get the job too. He had won titles in Spain and Italy and would ensure Wayne Rooney excels and stays at Old Trafford. (There's no issue here, Rooney will never leave Old Trafford unless he's offload..100% confirm)

My personal choice goes to Guus Hiddink. He has managed the likes of Real Madrid, PSV in their glory days and impressed at Chelsea (indicate his tactic works in Premier League). The only set back is not keen on hassle of club management, preferring to work at international level, which explain why he just become Turkey coach rather than coaching Real Madrid or Man City.

One more thing, whoever get chosen as the coach..hopefully he'll appoint someone who is very influential as the assistant. Promoting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from the academy wasn't a bad idea. It is like promoting Pep Guardiola to Barcelona first team. Pheww...I'll keep dreaming for Eric Cantona as the coach though.. ;p

By the way, don't you think Guus Hiddink looks like Carlo Ancelotti and Susan Boyle?

Gary Neville enjoyed Man Utd win over Man City more than anyone else!!

Yes Man Utd back in title race..Paul Scholes the hero this time..and thanks to Tottenham too..3 wining goals against Man City this season comes late in the game..Very late...It was still a memorable win.

I found this picture quite interesting..

Police warned Gary Neville and Carlos Tevez to behave during the derby match..and they did..but after Scholes scored the winning header, Neville was too excited, and planted a kiss on Scholes. and Scholes respond to that!  Pheww..

I wonder did they french kiss? ..haha..

Guess which Premier League club has the most promising Under-20 players? Arsenal? .....

Question- Which club in Premier League has the most promising Under-20 players?
Answer- Mostly will mention Arsenal...Yes, correct..but that's only 50 % correct.

Manchester United FC in fact has the same amount of promising Under-20 players as Arsenal does. Total 4.

Here's a host of  players under the age of 20 on the verge of taking the Premier League by storm soon. A matter of time perhaps. I'm a Man Utd fan, so I'll start first with the most promising Under-20 players wearing Man Utd jersey.

1) Fabio da Silva ,19

The left-sided half of the Brazilian twins signed from Fluminense in 2007, Fabio hasn't had quite the impact of his brother (largely due to a succession of niggling injuries), but is highly-rated at Old Trafford nonetheless and capable of playing in either full-back position or on the wing.

2) Rafael da Silva, 19

His copybook might have been blotted by that game-changing red card during United's recent Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich, but PFA Young Player of the Year nominee Rafael is still considered a strong contender to permanently succeed Gary Neville in the right full-back berth at Old Trafford. In fact, Patrice Evra has gone on record to say that the Brazilian youngster could become one of the club's all-time greats.

3) Federico Macheda, 18

The striker known as 'Kiko' enjoyed a Premier League debut to rival Danny Rose's, coming on as a substitute in United's must-win game against Aston Villa and scoring a glorious injury time winner that proved pivotal in the Reds' successful 2008-09 title campaign. Understandably, he's since struggled to dislodge the combined mights of Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen from the team's starting line-up, but Macheda remains very much one for the future at Old Trafford.

4) Danny Welbeck, 19

After starring for United's youth, reserve and Carling Cup teams, Welbeck became another dazzling debutant when he scored a stunning 30-yard curler against Stoke during his first league appearance. He's currently out on loan helping out manager Sir Alex Ferguson's son Darren at Preston, where he's scored twice in six appearances.

Which promising youngster owned by Arsenal?

5) Jack Wilshere, 18

England's great white hope, Wilshere holds the record for being Arsenal's youngest ever debutant - no mean feat given that club's recent policy of blooding youngsters. He scored his first goal ten days later - still some 90-odd days shy of his 17th birthday - as Wenger's young Guns thrashed Sheffield United 6-0 in the League Cup. Now gaining first-team experience at Bolton, Wilshere recently scored his first Premier League goal in the Trotters' 2-1 victory over West Ham.

6) Wojciech Szczesny, 19

I guess not many heard of this name before. He's something of a goalkeeping prodigy, Szczesny started training with the Legia Warszawa first team as a 15-year-old. He's only played in the League Cup since joining Arsenal in 2006 - and is currently on loan at Brentford - but Arsene Wenger has the highest of hopes for the youngster and has gone on record as saying that the Pole "will one day be Arsenal's No.1".

7) Aaron Ramsey, 19

Even if Ramsey only returned as half the player he was before the injury he sustained from Ryan Shawcross' sickening tackle , then he'd still be some prospect. The Welshman was nicknamed 'Rambo' by adoring Cardiff City fans, and his performances both for the Bluebirds and the Gunners following his £4.8million move in June 2008 have certainly been all-action. The central midfielder also already has 11 senior caps to his name - no mean feat for a player who won't be 20 until Boxing Day.

8) Craig Eastmond, 19

One of Arsene Wenger's seemingly endless line of young stars, Eastmond was plucked from Millwall as an 11 year-old. Naturally the midfielder made his first team bow in the League Cup - setting up the opening goal in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool last October - but has since muscled his way into the league set-up, coming on as a sub against Portsmouth in December 2009, and then starting Arsenal's 2-0 win at Bolton the following month.

Second highest in the list belongs to Tottenham, with a total of 3 hot prospect owned.

9) John Bostock, 18

After joining Spurs from Crystal Palace in highly controversial circumstances - a tribunal eventually set the transfer fee at £700,000 plus achievement bonuses, much to Eagles chairman Simon Jordan's disgust - Bostock made his first team debut against Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Cup aged 16 years and 295 days, a club record. He joined Brentford on loan in November 2009 and made an immediate impact - scoring twice on his debut.

10) Danny Rose, 19

Danny Rose enjoyed the most spectacular of league debut, hitting a long-range screamer to set his side on the way to a 2-1 victory over Arsenal. Signed in acrimonious circumstances from Leeds for £1million in July 2007, Rose enjoyed successful loan spells at Watford and Peterborough before eventually making his Tottenham debut in last month's FA Cup against, ironically, his former club. His explosive pace and attacking nous had already earned him six England Under-21 caps before that league debut.  And, as Arsenal fans can attest, he's no slouch in front of goal either.

11) Kyle Walker, 19

Tottenham signed Walker from Sheffield United - along with fellow young right-back Kyle Naughton - seemingly on the back of his performances for the Blades in the 2009 Championship play-offs (the defender had played only three other games for the club before that). They then promptly loaned him back for the 2009-10 season, only to recall him again following the sale of Alan Hutton to Sunderland in the January transfer window, since when he's made two first team appearances for Spurs.

Here comes Liverpool..

12) Martin Kelly , 19

A homegrown jewel in Rafa Benitez's largely continental crown, Kelly is seen as a long-term replacement for Jamie Carragher in Liverpool's rearguard - incidentally the player he replaced as a substitute when making his first team debut against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on December 9, 2008.

13) Daniel Pacheco, 19

Nicknamed 'The Killer' by his team-mates at Barcelona's youth academy on account of his ability to seemingly score from anywhere on the pitch, Pacheco joined compatriot Rafa Benitez at Liverpool in 2007, where it's hoped he'll become the next Fernando Torres. With just four substitute appearances to his name, it's early days yet, but Pacheco did make a decisive impact in the Reds' Europa League tie against Unirea Urziceni, setting up David N'Gog for the winning goal.

And the list goes this way

14) Nathan Delfouneso, 19 (Aston Villa)

A product of Villa's youth academy, England Under-21 striker Delfouneso became the youngest player ever to represent the Villans in Europe when he took to the field against FH Hafnarfjörður in the UEFA Cup aged just 17 years and 195 days. He's since played 20 times for the club and scored five goals, his first coming in an FA Cup replay against Doncaster in February 2009 that had manager Martin O'Neill drooling in the press afterwards.

15) Jordan Henderson, 19 (Sunderland)

Rated as one of the north-east's brightest prospects, midfielder Henderson has already played more than 30 times for the Black Cats' first team. Indeed, he's become something of a regular for the side this term, equally at home whether in his preferred position on the right or deputising for Lee Cattermole in the middle of the park.

16) Gael Kakuta, 18 (Chelsea)

Who wouldn't recognise this guy? French forward Kakuta became the most famous teenager in world football when FIFA slapped a transfer ban on Chelsea as punishment for illegally inducing him to breach his contract with previous club Lens (the judgement was subsequently overturned on appeal). With that furore now behind him, the player hailed in his homeland as 'the black Zidane' is set to do his talking on the pitch. His four first team appearances were pregnant with promise, and with Didier Drogba having taken him under his wing, Kakuta is poised for very big things indeed.

17) Victor Moses, 19 (Wigan)

A victim of the chronic financial difficulties afflicting Crystal Palace, Moses was sold for £2.5million during the January 2010 transfer window in an attempt to assuage the Championship club's creditors. Although perhaps he shouldn't be on this list at all, as Nigerian-born Moses has been dogged by rumours alleging he's actually older than he claims - a situation not helped any by then Palace manager Neil Warnock regularly joking that his star youngster was at least 23

18) Frank Nouble, 18 (West Ham)

A powerful striker whose hulking physique belies his years and a rising star of Chelsea's youth team, Nouble rejected their offer of a professional contract in favour of joining Gianfranco Zola's West Ham. He benefited greatly from an injury crisis at Upton Park, impressing during a stint deputising for Carlton Cole at the start of 2010 - although he's yet to score a competitive goal for the Hammers or, indeed, West Brom and Swindon, with whom he spent the latter half of this season on loan.

19) Jack Rodwell, 19 (Everton)

Rodwell's career has gone from strength to strength since he became the youngest player ever to represent Everton in Europe as a 16-year-old in December 2007. A versatile central midfielder capable of playing in all thirds of the pitch as well as the centre of defence, he's now made almost 50 appearances for the first team and attracted the attentions of no less an admirer than Sir Alex Ferguson.

20) Junior Hollett, 19 (Blackburn)

Capable of playing both on the wing and as a striker, Canadian David 'Junior' Hollett is enjoying a breakthrough season at Ewood Park and recently signed a contract extension that will keep him there until 2012. His most memorable moment to date followed his introduction as sub in Rovers' dramatic League Cup quarter-final win over Chelsea. Hollett scored the fifth and final penalty in the shoot-out that sealed his side's dramatic victory.
